At just 14 years old he performed as Apollo the Sun King in the Ballet Royal de la Nuit — a 12-hour spectacular that began at sundown and lasted until sunrise, featuring 45 dances across one extraordinary night.
Louis XIV didn't just defy convention. He didn't just patronize dance — he performed it. He founded the first professional ballet academy, codified the vocabulary of classical ballet, and formally established the art that still exists today.
